Beacon in the Night

I was thinking of all the times, that I went astray

Searching for answers, never stopping to pray

Going forth on my own accord, never thinking about the Lord

Walking without his shield and his sword

Searching for my fortune, a life filled with ease

Thinking only of myself, for there was no one else to please

With each turn in life I made, I felt lost like in a maze

Then I knelt before my Lord and gave him praise

I prayed to my God above, seeking to find his love

Not sure if my Lord would let me in

So I prayed night and day, that somehow I’d be saved

And through God’s mercy, He would forgive me of my sins

Then for reasons I can’t explain, my life began to change

For everything I did, somehow seemed right

I went forth with no fear, I felt as though God was near

Lighting my way like a beacon in the night
