Tribute to a Cowboy
A horse a saddle and a bedroll to call home
Pushing cattle sleeping cold until the dawn
Coffee and a biscuit, and its time to ride again
God bless all the cowboys and the life that they live
Breaking young colts at dawn, cleaning cattle pins by ten
Throwd twice to the ground and the pain is setting in
A ride to town a cold beer, down by where the river bends
Can’t go, made a promise, you have to shoe an old friend.
A horse a saddle and a bedroll to call home
Mending tack by the fireside all alone
Coyotes are howling and the cattle are on edge
Tonight like so many nights, your saddle is your bed
Musical break
The bulls broke thru the wire, there as wild as the wind
Scattered in the cedars you could use a few good men
It took you all day long to get’em back from where they been
Be thankful but remember you now have fence to mend.
A horse a saddle and a bedroll to call home
In the summer the cedars and the pine trees are your home
Chill sets in, gather cattle, and it’s down the trail again
The geese are over head, old man winter is in the wind.
A horse a saddle and a bedroll to call home
Pushing cattle sleeping cold until the dawn
Coffee and a biscuit, and its time to ride again
God bless all the cowboys and the life that they live
